An Introduction to Plant-Based Eating with Tools for Success
Ā Ā Ā Ā This 6 week nutrition class is designed to gently transition you and your family to healthier eating patterns. You will learn which foods are helpful for disease prevention and which are harmful (based on science). More importantly, you will learn how to incorporate healing foods into your daily diet and how to prepare them at home. Each week includes cooking demonstrations, recipes and tastings. This motivational class will be held in Verityās teaching kitchen and is only $50 for the entire 6 weeks for patients of Verity (but open to all for $240). Reserve your spot now as space is limited. People who have completed this course in the past have been able to reduce blood pressure and diabetic medicine and many have maintained these changes for several years. - Week 1 – “Food is Fuel” – Whole Foods vs Processed Foods
- Week 2 – “Nourishing Foods” – Plant Based Compounds, Food diversity, Fiber and the Gut Microbiome
- Week 3 – “Destructive Foods” – Saturated Fats, Processed Meats, Dairy, Harmful food additives and how to avoid them
- Week 4 – “Healing Foods” – Antioxidants, Anti-inflammatories, Prebiotics, Probiotics and how to use them
- Week 5 – “Your Nervous System & Digestion” – Rest to Digest, Circadian Rhythms, Mindful eating and making habits
- Week 6 – “Balance” – How to be a plant-based eater with an active, busy lifestyle. Maintenance
